The Town of Marblehead Massachusetts

 

Marblehead is a coastal town along the Atlantic Ocean, in Essex County, Massachusetts, home to the Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary and Devereux Beach. A town with roots in both commercial fishing and yachting, Marblehead is the birthplace of the American Navy, Marine Corps Aviation and a yachting capital of the United States.

Besides Marblehead Neck, there are two other villages within town, Devereux to the southeast and Clifton to the southwest. Given its small area, most of the residential land in town is densely settled. Marblehead’s town center is located approximately 4 miles from the center of Salem, 16 miles northeast of Boston and 12 miles southwest of Cape Ann. Marblehead is bordered by Swampscott to the south and Salem to the northwest.

Marblehead is home to the eastern termini of Massachusetts Route 114 and Route 129, both terminating at the intersection of Atlantic and Ocean avenues. Route 114 heads west into Salem, while Route 129 heads south along Atlantic Avenue into Swampscott towards Lynn. Four MBTA Bus routes (the 441, 442, 448 and 449) originate in town, offering regular service to Boston, with weekend service to Wonderland in Revere. The Newburyport/Rockport Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail passes through neighboring Salem, with service between the North Shore and Boston’s North Station. Beverly Municipal Airport offers the nearest air service. Salem offers seasonal ferry service.

Astute property managers understand the benefits of certain high-payoff remodeling. Under certain circumstances, replacing a bathtub with a shower stall or a walk-in tub can increase the appeal of the unit, thereby reducing vacancies. A wall surrounding the kitchen might be removed, installing a small island to completely change the apartment’s look and appeal. An astute property manager knows which improvements offer the highest potential payoffs.
