The Town of Natick Massachusetts

 

Natick is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, located near the center of the state’s MetroWest region. Only 15 miles (24 km) west of Boston, Natick is considered part of the Greater Boston area. The name Natick comes from the language of a Massachusett Native American tribe and means place of hills. The original settlement, in the community of South Natick, is a hilly area. Natick was first settled in 1651 by John Eliot, a Puritan missionary born in Widford, Hertfordshire, England. The town was officially incorporated in 1781. Henry Wilson, a U.S. senator born in 1812 who became the eighteenth vice president of the United States (1873-1875), and who lived most of his life in Natick as a shoemaker and schoolteacher, was known as the “Natick Cobbler” and is buried there.

Though Natick was primarily a farming town, the invention of the sewing machine in 1858 led to the growth of several shoe factories. The shoes made in Natick were primarily heavy work shoes. Natick was also famous for its heavy, ankle-high boots, worn by soldiers in the American Civil War.

Miles 8 through 12 of the Boston Marathon run through Natick on Patriots Day every year along Route 135/Central St., with thousands of residents and visitors lining the road to watch. Communities and neighborhoods include: Natick Center, South Natick, East Natick, West Natick, Sherwood, Walnut Hill, Wethersfield, Oak Street and Little South.

A good property manager understands that great actors are only as good as their supporting cast. So the property manager understands that it is critical to surround himself with people whose skills complement his own. If his skills lie in the area of people management or financial analysis, for example, he will round out the team by hiring or developing an existing ream member with excellent skills in the physical plant or maybe in construction. The best property managers are willing to hire people who may be stronger than they are in certain areas. Good property mangers are willing (even eager) to learn from the people they hire. Good property managers focus on what’s critical. Property managers are all flooded with a seemingly endless round of \"dailies.\" There are always plumbing issues, employee concerns and tenant troubles to grab their attention. Although these problems do need to be resolved, focusing solely on them can cause managers to lose sight of what\'s really important: achieving the owner\'s objectives. A good real estate manager understands that an owner’s priorities can shift: mergers take precedence, new players jockey for position and generational differences arise. It\'s crucial to be able to keep pace with both the market and the shift in priorities of those at the top. The effective property manager must be able to act and react with them. Parents with children are aware that when they have the opportunity to review their child’s homework, they also have the chance to re-learn things they may have forgotten.
